Chapter 9 - Kingdom on the Regenerated Earth

After His purpose for the “Tribulation” period is fulfilled, God will destroy the degenerated earth with fire. (2 Peter 3:3-10) He will then regenerate the earth and personally reign on it. (Isaiah 51:3; 55:12-13; Amos 9:13-15; Matthew 19:28; Revelation 20:1-7)

                                         Messianic Age

As previously indicated, Jesus will have effectively called together a remnant of Israelites during the “Tribulation” period, before His regeneration of the earth. Under His immediate, visible headship, they will comprise the restored nation of Israel on the regenerated earth.

Theologians refer to the rule of Christ on the regenerated earth as the “Davidic,” “Messianic,” or “Millennial” kingdom. “Davidic” because it is the fulfillment of the kingdom God promised to David (2 Samuel 7; 1 Chronicles 28:7; Daniel 7:27; Obadiah 15-21; Micah 4:1-8); “Messianic” because it will be ruled by Jesus the Messiah (2 Samuel 7:16; Psalm 89:20-37; Isaiah 2:2-3; 24:23; Jeremiah 33:15-17; Daniel 7:13-14; Luke 1:30-33; Revelation 20:4, 6); and “Millennial” because its duration is 1000 years (Revelation 20:2-7).

The fulfillment of the promised rule of Jesus Christ on the regenerated earth will commence shortly after the end of the “Tribulation” period. (cf. Psalm 2:6-9; Isaiah 2:2-4; 9:6-7; 11:1-12:6; Jeremiah 23:3-8; 33:9-26; Matthew 25:31-34; 2 Timothy 4:1; Revelation 19:11-20:6) Upon His return, He will judge the remaining population of the Gentile nations (Matthew 25:31-46) and restore the nation of  Israel according to the unconditional promises of the Abrahamic, Davidic, and New covenants. The restored nation will then be commissioned to reign with Christ on the regenerated earth for 1000 years. (Isaiah 54:5-7; 60:1-22; Jeremiah 30-31; Ezekiel 20:33-38; 37:24-28; Daniel 9:24-27; Acts 1:6; Romans 11; et al.)

The 1000-year reign of Christ on earth with the full cooperation of national Israel will provide a visible, perfect demonstration of selfless love, unfailing mercy, and absolute justice. Thus, it will vindicate the nature of God once and for all.

The Messianic Age on the regenerated earth in the kingdom of God can be briefly summarized as follows:
