Rebellion
Nevertheless, the angelic high priest of the original earth rebelled against the sovereign authority of God. He inspired a vast number of subordinate angels to do the same. Relative to the rebellion and the subsequent judgment of God, the original earth was reduced to a state of chaos. The chaotic earth was characterized by waste, ruin, emptiness, and darkness (Genesis 1:2). The rebellious, angelic inhabitants of the original earth were banished from the presence of God and therefore, His kingdom (realm of authority). Consequently, the angelic population of the “kingdom of God” endured a dramatic reduction in size. Summary In its original, pristine form, the earth was manifested within the kingdom of God (realm of divine authority). It allowed for a glorious presentation of the kingdom on earth. Nevertheless, the angelic rebellion and subsequent destruction caused the original, eternal earth to no longer be suitable to exist within the kingdom of God. Therefore, the presence of the kingdom authority of God was temporarily suspended on earth and the angelic representation of divine authority on earth disrupted. Thus, the representation of the kingdom of God on the original earth initially lasted only from angelic creation to angelic fall. |
